Unripe HK

Today is the first day that I (probably) recovered from my illness and also the day to meet up with old friends from ANI (Auckland Normal Intermediate) .  We went to TST for some curry then went off to bar/pub for some drinks.  They got a free make-up deal going when you buy two bottles of Corona.  Two of my friends took part and one of them became Joker

Halloween in HK is like a big costume party, nothing like NZ where the day just quietly go by.  Most people wears some sort of make-up or costume on the street, near the SOHO area, near bars and especially the crazily crowded LKF (蘭貴坊, Lan Kwai Fong).   When I was getting home at 1AM, the parties there just began!

Polices are everywhere to control the crowd, guiding/traffic controlling people going in the direction of LKF.  They even blocked a couple of exits in the Central MTR station, preventing people like me getting home!    I had to walk all the way around to get home. plus the escalator was out of service after 12AM so I had to hike up the stairs.

I had been sick since yesterday morning – can’t even sleep last night.

Visited the doc this morning – can’t  believe he still has my record back from 1991~1992 on paper.  Crazy. Gave me a bunch of meds to take, and told me off to eat light for the next few days.

Suspected culprit:

- Expired moon cake

- Heaps of sushi, sashimi, and beef tataki from the last few days

I think it’s the fish.

One of my aunts bought some milk pudding back from Sogo for dessert last night.

These tastes reaaalllll goooooood.  I wish they have these in NZ (after all, we DO export dairy products)

I went to Tamashii Nation 2009 HK at Olympian City 2 (this is a mall) yesterday.

This is the HK version of the regularly held Bandai event from Japan.  The event showcases the newest toys from respective toy lines from Bandai, mainly anything to do with Tamashii/Spirit – this means Saint Seiya Myth Cloth , Robot Spirit action figures (mobile suits, KMFs, other mechas), Chogokin, etc.

While heading off to the venue, I picked up a real quick breakfast from shops in central MTR station.

When I get there it was merely 11:30AM. (It starts at 12:00 or so).  There’s already a pile of people lined up – waiting eagerly to purchase the limited edition goods.  Each person is given a number so they can purchase in order.  At least I’m not too far from the front.

After waiting in line for nearly 2 hours, I finally got my filthy hands on the limited edition goods and headed off to actually SEE the toys on display.  LOL. (The goods will be posted as another blog spot, some day)

The day ended with a $40 lunch at the food court…

Just found this Dark Chocolate Vita Soy (soya bean) Milk from the fridge, looks tasty!

Hopefully there’s stock of this in NZ Tai Ping.  Might have to stock this in snack box eh?

Finally tried the Chocolate Pie ($7.50), and had a cup of cappuccino. ($20)

Just went to Mong Kok to check some prices for the following items:

Canon S90 – $3680, with 8gb card and screen protector.  Broadway and Fortress both went out of stock.

HTC Hero – $4480~$4490 – with 2gb or 4gb card and screen protector.  Citadel seems to have the best deal with 4gb card, and possibly a bluetooth headset too.

Panasonic GF-1 (Red) – $7490 with 8gb card, tripod, bag, etc etc (good deal really). Man Sheng has this

After some wonton noodles for lunch, I treated myself a bowl of doufuhua (豆腐花).

You can also have these in NZ too, but HK  ones are just usually better!
